                  This song, originally written as "Merry, Merry Lou" by Cayet Mangiaracina and recorded by The Sparks  in 1957 and rewritten by Gene Pitney as "Hello Mary Lou,"  was recorded by Rick Nelson as the B-side of his No. 1 hit "Travelin' Man" released on April 10, 1961, reaching No. 9 on the Billboard music chart. The song appeared on the LP Rick Is 21.  The wonderful guitar work was done by James Burton and the vocal background by The Jordanaires (Gordon Stoker, Neal Matthews, Hoyt Hawkins, & Ray Walker). The other members of the band were bassist James Kirkland, drummer Richie Frost, and pianist Ray Johnson. "Hello Mary Lou" can be found on the CDs, Ricky Nelson - Greatest Hits on Capitol and Rick Nelson - Greatest Hits on EMI.
